PTE is a library that creates the periodic table of the elements graphically on
your HP-48SX. With PTE you have the possibility to look for an elements name,
symbol, atomic number, atomic weight and electron configuration. Also you can
sum up atomic weights to get the molecular weight of a chemical compound.
Installing PTE:
- Download PTE.LIB to your calculator.
- Recall the library to the stack and store it in port 0 by typing 0 STO.
- Turn the calculator off and on and PTE attaches itself to the home-directory.
Once installed PTE needs 9401.5 bytes.
- If you want to remove PTE type :0:888 <enter> <enter> DETACH PURGE.
Working with PTE:
<TABLE> - The periodic table appears on the display. Using the <cursor>-keys
you can move around. <Backspace> leaves the program. Hitting <enter>
shows you a window with symbol, name, atomic weight and number of the
specified element until you press any other key.
<ELCO> - You see the same table as above. Hitting <enter> shows you the
electron configuration of the specified element. If two orbits are
shown inverted, it means an exception to the orbit-filling-rule (for
example that one s-electron jumps to a d-orbit because that is more
symmetric and therefore has a lower energy).
<MOLW> - You see the same table as above (what surprise !). Hitting <enter>
shows you a window with the question how many atoms of the current
element you wish to add to your molecular weight. Entering a number
(nothing means 0) and pressing <enter> takes you back to the table.
Leaving the table with <backspace> takes the molecular weight to the
stack.
I hope PTE helps you and excuse my horrible english.
